Ug Brothers: The Ugstrumentals

A whole load of Ug Brothers instrumentals – or ugstrumentals, as Professor Dinboffin called them – have been uploaded to the site. These were recorded in rehearsal using two ambient mics and feature many tracks that were never heard on stage.

The Cute But Weird ugstrumentals have also made their appearance. They include a version of Lifetime with two guitar tracks. One of the guitars had to be deleted to make room for vocals on the 4-track, so perhaps one track was almost OK and so was the other one and it was a beard-twiddling decision as to which one would stay. This version seems to be a couple of BPM slower then the final version. The Tascam has a speed control so this may not be significant.

    I have this vague memory that we felt the whole thing was a bit slow, so we speeded up the final version using the speed control. I think the final version is slightly sharper than A major, so the slower version with the two guitars should be bang on concert.
