Guarana: unreleased demo uploaded

Great news for all Guarana fans! Four previously unreleased demo songs have been discovered and uploaded to a new playlist in the Archives section of the Wud Records website and over at SoundCloud. These were studio recorded tracks lurking on a couple of CDs given to us many years ago by the band themselves and we felt that Guarana fans, of whom there are many, would love to hear them.

Lullaby and Outside are both full band studio recordings that capture the two songs beautifully. It is interesting to compare the live version of Lullaby with its studio counterpart.

The other two tracks sound as if they were recorded by frontman Danny LePelley on his own. Out In The Evening is a song featuring just voice and acoustic guitar, and Confusion sounds as if Danny recorded this using just some synths, keys and voice at home.

We are not sure if Confusion was ever performed live although it somehow possesses all of the hallmarks of a classic Guarana song. We do not know who or what the Purple Rabbit was that was credited for the remix and neither do we have any other mix of this track. The first three songs were absolutely definitely all performed live by the hot trio from Guernsey at various performances.

Unfortunately we have no information whatsoever concerning these Guarana tracks. We believe they are from early 2002. We can tell you with absolute certainty that Danny played a white Fender Stratocaster and the band’s bassist had dreadlocks and played a Warwick, but beyond that we are delving rapidly into the realms of total speculation.
