Mark Drower and the Everyones: original programme and ticket added to gallery
The original programme and a ticket for the first performances of Everyone have been added to the Mark Drower and the Everyones gallery. Miranda Blayney kindly got in touch, completely out of the blue, and sent us the scans.
We’re very grateful! It was a wonderful surprise to find this in an email. She was just as flabberghasted as the rest of us to discover that Everyone recently had its 40 year anniversary.
Miranda first contacted us a few years ago, when we used to have a forum section at the Wud Records website. It’s an absolute joy to hear from her again!
Unfortunately, the forum software acted as a powerful magnet to all manner of random spam and nasties floating around on the internet. Our technician simply deleted that part of the website to avoid further damage.
Back in 1982, Miranda was one of the original cast. Everyone by Frederick Franck was first performed at The King’s Grammar School, Ottery St Mary in Project Week 1982. Miranda played the role of the mother in the Family scene. She said she had a speaking part but can no longer remember the line. She was a second year student, along with her best friend Allanah, who played the part of Insight.
Miranda goes on to say that she was “an extremely shy second year with a love of rock musicals and in awe of the musicians higher up the school. Myself and my best friend Alannah were the youngest in the cast.” The incredible timeless music has stayed with her ever since. She adds “I was there at the recording studio too, possibly the only sober one in the afternoon session!”
Thanks to Miranda, we have finally been able to resolve one of the great burning questions: who in fact were the Everyones? The original programme lists all the cast and crew for the school performances on page two!
Over the years, a few other people have shared their memories of the event. We have taken their recollections into account in crediting those who took part, in case there were somehow any printing inaccuracies, omisions or last minute changes.
Already in the Mark Drower and the Everyones gallery are four photos taken by Giles Staddon, and a poster and a press cutting for the Cathedral shows, contributed by Jon Kneebone. The latest additions from Miranda are a fantastic find and a tremendous help.
Some time ago another original cast member claimed to have some photos from the shows. If that person – or indeed anybody else – should somehow make photos available to us, we shall of course very gladly upload them to the Everyone gallery and inform the world in our News service and on Twitter. Make sure you are receiving notifications for both.
* Please note: due to the arrival of this new information, we have taken the decision to change the running order of The Blaze Tape. The songs are now in the order in which they were performed during the play, rather than order in which they were recorded.
