Laughing Sun: lyrics published at Explicit Music

Posted by Wudmaster on 23/11/09

Now that Indeed has been added to the Laughing Sun pages, we have updated the lyrics for Laughing Sun over at Explicit Music. Pok had a furious outburst of typing and managed to complete all the songs on Indeed, with just We Know You Well from Cander still needing its lyrics organising.

Pok has also told us that he will be composing some facts for the ‘information’ parts of the ‘lyrics and information’. Big up to the Professor for sorting all of this out. :)

The Bastard Sons of Dennis: live at The Amber Rooms, Monday 23rd November

Posted by Wudmaster on 22/11/09

On Monday (that’s tomorrow!) the Bastard Sons of Dennis will be making their first appearance at the Amber Rooms for many years. The last time the boys played there the venue was called The Printer’s Pie and the band was Rough Terrain.

Andy has acquired a gadget to allow his beautiful acoustic to be plugged into the desk rather than using somebody else’s or a mic, so it will be interesting to see how well it works.

We hope to see some of you there! :)

Alchemeon: pause pressed

Posted by Wudmaster on 21/11/09

Alchemeon have become a back-burner musical project for now. Pok’s interests at the moment lie primarily with his bardic material and that is what he wishes to pursue. He is also finding it very hard to keep making the journey between Brighton and Exeter. So for the time being, Alchemeon are on hold.

It is very likely that the band will at some point in the future be reconvening in some form or other as the songs have proven themselves to be timeless. When that time arrives, we shall let you know here in the news pages of Wud Records.

Dark Company: latest studio news

Posted by Wudmaster on 20/11/09

At the end of the first week of Dark Company’s Nine Week Plan there has been some good progress. Perhaps not as much as would have been liked, but of quality rather than quantity.

Pete’s vocals for Clear Day and Cover Up from the Can of Worms collection were recorded. Cover Up has a changed feel as a result of the recording process, producing a darker, more sombre sound, conjuring images of a damp drizzly dusk by a river in the centre of some large central European city. Sven did a fantastic job with the percussives at short notice. Some of the lyrics were changed and the chorus was dispensed with altogether.

The first song of the Noir collection has had the vocals fixed too. During a moment of serendipity a vocal part from the chorus became intertwined with a verse and thus a whole new realm of weirdity became manifest.  It was a special moment, the beginning of the final recordings of the newest works. Pete has not stopped writing, or talking, so who knows…

The Bastard Sons of Dennis: The Angel, Exeter

Posted by Wudmaster on 20/11/09

They finally did it! The second debut performance of the Bastard Sons of Dennis took place a few hours ago at The Angel, Exeter, and was something of a triumph. Their set was Dominance and Submission, Wings Wetted Down, Before The Kiss A Redcap and Last Days of May to finish.

Andy and George had to share a vocal mic which was most amusing as they synchronised their ins and outs. They could have been louder but were very well received and even managed a rendition of Happy Birthday for someone called Becky. Today The Angel, tomorrow, The Universe. And on Monday, The Amber Rooms. See you there! :)

Laughing Sun: Indeed

Posted by Wudmaster on 19/11/09

We’ve added a new page of songs to Laughing Sun’s collections. These songs are from a cassette which at the time we named Indeed. They were mined from deep in our archives by request of Professor Dinboffin and are considered a crucial piece of Laughing Sun memorabilia.
