The Bastard Sons of Dennis: The Angel and beyond

Posted by Wudmaster on 25/11/09

Following last Thursday’s successful show, the Bastard Sons of Dennis plan to perform live at The Angel, Queen Street, Exeter again tomorrow night.

Next Thursday they may well make their first appearance at The Black Horse in Longbrook Street. With all being well the boys will probably return to the Amber Rooms this coming Monday as well. More news on this will follow shortly.

Dark Company: Can of Worms progressing

Posted by Wudmaster on 25/11/09

Pete managed to lay down all the layers of vocal tracks for Cover Up and Simple Love earlier today for the Can of Worms album by Dark Company. These songs are coming together very well indeed, better than we originally thought they would, and there are only four more that Pete needs to do to finish his contributions to this album. We hope to record a few more of his parts tomorrow as well.

In between Pete’s vocal takes, George has also been busy in Studio 2 laying down guides and has done more than half of the Ghost of the Art album now. Some of it will require considerable surgery to lick the sequencer into shape, but our priority with Dark Company is to try to finish Pete’s parts while his health holds out.

The Bastard Sons of Dennis: Amber Rooms show

Posted by Wudmaster on 24/11/09

Despite George forgetting how the start of the first song went, this show was another triumph for The Bastard Sons of Dennis. Their set this time was Dominance and Submission, Wings Wetted Down, Teen Archer and Astronomy. Both of the last two songs were fantastic, especially the silly percussive section in Teen Archer and the harmony to end Astronomy. All in all a highly creditable performance among many highly creditable performances on the night.

The next show may be on Thursday. We will keep you updated as to when the Bastard Sons of Dennis will be playing here at Wud Records. There is also a possibility they might change their name to Brazilian Transvestite Orgy. As usual, the latest news on that will be here too… :-/

We hope that it might be possible to say something about the other musicians playing at such events and post links to their web pages for you to see. We have witnessed some fantastic performances, and bringing some of these musicians to a wider Wud audience would be good. Watch this space…

Laughing Sun: lyrics published at Explicit Music

Posted by Wudmaster on 23/11/09

Now that Indeed has been added to the Laughing Sun pages, we have updated the lyrics for Laughing Sun over at Explicit Music. Pok had a furious outburst of typing and managed to complete all the songs on Indeed, with just We Know You Well from Cander still needing its lyrics organising.

Pok has also told us that he will be composing some facts for the ‘information’ parts of the ‘lyrics and information’. Big up to the Professor for sorting all of this out. :)

The Bastard Sons of Dennis: live at The Amber Rooms, Monday 23rd November

Posted by Wudmaster on 22/11/09

On Monday (that’s tomorrow!) the Bastard Sons of Dennis will be making their first appearance at the Amber Rooms for many years. The last time the boys played there the venue was called The Printer’s Pie and the band was Rough Terrain.

Andy has acquired a gadget to allow his beautiful acoustic to be plugged into the desk rather than using somebody else’s or a mic, so it will be interesting to see how well it works.

We hope to see some of you there! :)

Alchemeon: pause pressed

Posted by Wudmaster on 21/11/09

Alchemeon have become a back-burner musical project for now. Pok’s interests at the moment lie primarily with his bardic material and that is what he wishes to pursue. He is also finding it very hard to keep making the journey between Brighton and Exeter. So for the time being, Alchemeon are on hold.

It is very likely that the band will at some point in the future be reconvening in some form or other as the songs have proven themselves to be timeless. When that time arrives, we shall let you know here in the news pages of Wud Records.
