Dark Company: Repossession

Posted by Wudmaster on 14/01/10

Today was somewhat more successful than yesterday in that we managed to record Pete’s vocal for Repossession from Ghost of the Art and upload the alpha mix if you fancy a listen. As is the case for the rest of that collection, there is much work and tweakage still to be done before it is finished, but it’s good to have a semi-decent version of the song up here.

Only seven more to do from Ghost of the Art and we hope to record another one or two tomorrow.

Dark Company: Ghost of the Art alphas uploaded

Posted by Wudmaster on 13/01/10

We’ve uploaded some alpha mixes of recent recordings of songs from the Ghost of the Art album. The songs in question are Architect, Attached, Mirror and The Thin Man. There are still eight more of these to upload. These songs all require a great deal of work and we thought you might like to hear how things are progressing for now.

We attempted to record Pete’s vocals for Code Red from Noir earlier but he was not up to the task. He still seems to be somewhat under the weather after his recent accident. There may be further attempts at recording his vocals for various things soon.

Wud Records: all the latest news

First up we would like to say thanks to all the people who supported the Rage Against the Machine campaign here in the UK as it was a great day for real music. Long live the revolution! :-D

The Bastard Sons of Dennis played a successful albeit curtailed show at the Black Horse on the 17th, cranking out the new ‘audience participation’ version of Dominance and Submission and their Christmas song, Redeemed (Sir Rastas Bear). They have not played since due to it being silly season. They hope to start performing again early in the New Year.

If you would like to see the Bastard Sons of Dennis playing at the Black Horse on the 17th December, there are a couple of videos posted on youtube. Thanks to Tom for the uploads. You can find links to them on our ‘links’ page.

Dark Company have been fairly quiet for the last couple of weeks or so. Pete had a nasty accident on the 20th December involving some slippery ice, a flight of concrete stairs and a car battery. He was lucky enough to escape his incident with concussion, cuts and bruises. He is now on the mend and we shall bring you more news on his condition soon.

We hope to be able to upload some finished works from Flicker before much more time has gone by. As George has been so busy with Dark Company due to Pete’s health issues he has had very little time to do anything with Flicker. However, Sauce from HappySad is nearly finished and we believe that as Pete’s contributions to recording Dark Company are almost done the rest of HappySad will follow shortly.

With Clonk! and Alchemeon now being largely dormant we don’t anticipate there being a lot of change on those fronts. However, we will continue to explore the vast Wud Records archives and try to upload some more gems for you to enjoy over the coming year.

The redesign of the whole Wud Records site will be applied soon. We are very aware of the fact that parts of the site are not working terribly well at the moment and the new design will fix all of these issues.

Finally we hope all of our visitors had a very Happy Solstice and Christmas, and we hope you all have a fantastic New Year! :)

The Bastard Sons of Dennis: live at the Black Horse 17/12/09

Posted by Wudmaster on 14/12/09

Just a quick reminder to you all that the Bastard Sons of Dennis will be performing live at the Black Horse, Longbrook Street, Exeter on Thursday 17th December. We hope that some of you will be able to come along and enjoy their show.

Their previous set at this venue was Dominance and Submission, Wings Wetted Down, Before the Kiss a Redcap and Last Days of May. They also did a very short protest song. It was a fun performance enjoyed by the crowd and the band.

There will be new material performed live on Thursday, so make sure you are there to hear it. Ladies may need to bring a spare pair of panties as theatrical props. All will become clear on the night… :)

Dark Company: alpha mixes uploaded

Posted by Wudmaster on 12/12/09

In order to allow Dark Company’s fans to hear what we’ve been working on for the last while, we’ve uploaded a whole heap of alpha mixes for you to enjoy. They are the complete albums of Can of Worms, Mind Dance and Noir. :)

Can of Worms is a collection of rather splendid older songs that tended to be largely ignored by the band during their first two incarnations, although there are a couple of exceptions that Jeff and George developed a little on the Atari during the days of Dark Company II. Mind Dance was only ever demoed with Sammi singing as well as Pete in Dark Company’s third incarnation. Noir is the very newest collection of Dark Company’s songs which we hope to finish and release in 2010. This is your very first opportunity to hear the Noir songs. There is plenty of fabulous material contained within these three albums and we’re sure that you’ll find some of your own personal favourites among them.

All of these albums are in the relatively early stages and we will endeavour to update and upload whenever possible. At the moment Pete is concentrating on recording Ghost of the Art and Noir before his medical issues slow his progress. George is working mostly on Bad Habits and Sven is almost at the end of Mind Dance.

Max recently gave us a CD of all the photos she took of the band earlier this year and there are some excellent shots among them. We shall be uploading them soon, along with the ones taken by Phil last month. Firstly however we plan to reorganise the Dark Company galleries a little during the forthcoming upload of the new site design as they have grown to a vast sprawling mass. It will be easier to locate all the images once this has been done.

We are hoping that Dark Company may be making an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Up All Night programme with Dotun Adebayo and Jamie Stangroom. Make sure you check back regularly for all the latest news.

The Bastard Sons of Dennis: new songs!

Posted by Wudmaster on 11/12/09

The Bastard Sons of Dennis have added some more songs to their set, those being Redeemed, Workshop of the Telescopes and She’s as Beautiful as a Foot. Redeemed came about due to the forthcoming Christmas special at the Black Horse on December 17th, which should be a good night.

The boys hope to debut Redeemed and possibly one or two more at the Black Horse. It will probably be the next time that they will be able to perform live.
