Explicit Music: a new look

Posted by Wudmaster on 09/06/09

Everything that was previously published at the old Explicit Music website has now been moved to the new Explicit Music website. There is still much to publish and the design still needs a little work, although I think you will agree that it looks much better now and it is far easier to find the information you want. Thanks to the team for their hard work.

Additionally we have published several more albums of Dark Company’s lyrics over at the Explicit Music website.

Dark Company: new photos uploaded

Posted by Wudmaster on 04/06/09

The photos from May 31st have now been uploaded to the Dark Company gallery. Some of them are great! Phil the Photographer would like to have another go and take some more in a different location on a more overcast day. No doubt we shall be uploading those as well.

We have removed all of the Bad Habits songs in order to reload the full beta mix of the whole album. Due to security and technical reasons we are having various issues with uploads of mp3s. A certain technician from a particular software company is refusing to answer our queries so we may have to release a squadron of pterydactyls with instructions to defecate on all his doorknobs. Hopefully we shall be able to upload the full beta album fairly soon. All the songs still need a little work and we hope the album will be finished by the end of August.

Pete has now finished all the voices and harmonicas for the Mind Dance collection, and Sven has now bashed things in his own unique way for almost half of those songs as well. We anticipate that it will not be horribly long before the whole collection is finalised. When we are able to reupload mp3s we shall provide a few alpha tracks for your enjoyment.

Alchemeon: back to work

Posted by Wudmaster on 03/06/09

Alchemeon will be reconvening to continue the business of making beautiful music in a few days. As well as a festival date on July 4th near Crediton there is an outside chance that the band may be performing at the Glastonbury festival. Watch this space for further developments.

Wud Records: latest news

Posted by Wudmaster on 30/05/09

In the latest news from Wud Records, Alchemeon may be performing at a festival on July 4th, and The Bastard Sons of Dennis will be putting some finishing touches to their open mic set this week. More news on both of these events will follow shortly.

We are still busy working behind the scenes on the websites. Explicit Music is undergoing some rather extensive moving and may not be fully accessible for a while. We are also waiting for the plumbers’ strike to end so we can install a shiny new tap in our shop, for important health and safety reasons.

The sheer amount of sound packed into the recording of Dark Company’s Bad Habits album is causing our machinery to strain and sweat a little and we are considering an upgrade for the studio.

On a somewhat sadder note, an old friend of Wud Records died last week. Mr Toby Hamilton, 1965-2009. R.I.P. :(

Dark Company: progress!

Posted by Wudmaster on 30/05/09

A great deal of work by Dark Company has been going on in the studio on the Bad Habits album. A lot of subtle tweaking and mixing, fine-tuning of Sven and writing of new guitar patches have been achieved. Today Pale Sky, Nightshifters and Amanita Alice were all mixed down leaving just two more songs to complete the album.

Additionally, Pete has almost finished all the vocal recordings he needs to make to complete the revitalised Mind Dance collection. There are two more of these left to finish as well.

Dark Company have also been examining their most recent material to see what will be produced on the album subsequent to Bad Habits. There are over forty new songs to choose between and the album has been given the working title of Wooden Wires.

The band have a photo shoot tomorrow so we hope to upload some photos of them in the near future.

Wud Records: forging ahead on several fronts

Posted by Wudmaster on 18/05/09

In case you thought we were all destroyed by the Swine Flu, we felt that a Wud Records update was necessary despite nothing obvious ‘up front’ taking place, as it were.

We’ve been beavering away like there’s no tomorrow with software new and old, refining and tweaking the sounds of Dark Company’s Bad Habits album, which is now at post-production stage. We have also managed to record a little of Sven for their Mind Dance album and re-recorded some of his parts for Bad Habits. Sven has explained that this included an entirely different bass drum part for Nightshifters. We nodded as if we understood what he said.

We have also sorted out a whole load of new Dark Company material which will form into a new album after Bad Habits is done. Pete is as prolific as ever, despite his assurances that he has hardly written anything lately. The band will be shot by a photographer later this month, rather than by firing squad as some fans of the lip-curlingly twee may have requested. Dark Company plan to make some short films of themselves in session and we are planning some live webcasts for later in the year.

A variety of other wave files from the archives have been tested and largely found to be of too poor quality to be uploaded here, so they will be input again. Some archive Flicker material has been analysed so that HappySad can be moved forward a little.

The Explicit Music site is undergoing an overhaul with a whole new look and better navigation. We hope to implement these changes by the end of June. Some more minor changes are about to be made to the Wud Records site as well. We are having a slight technical issue with our shop and our mp3 player which we hope will be solved soon after technician holidays.

As our regular visitors will know, we aim to go public and advertise the site after we have the shop working properly. Despite the secrecy of our presence on the web, we are still being hit from all over the world which is pleasing. We hope that our traffic, new and old, will continue to enjoy the Wud Records site.

Having successfully finished the artwork for Alien Heat’s Red Rug Demo, our graphic design department has been working away on the final look for their Essential collection. We hope that both of these items will be available soon along with Flicker’s At Least 100 Words which needs its artwork recovering from a computer disaster.

Other than that, not much has happened lately…
