Wud Records: artwork uploaded

Posted by Wudmaster on 18/06/09

With the opening of the Wud Records shop coming ever closer we have recently uploaded the cover art of several of our bands’ CDs to their respective galleries. These include Flicker’s At Least 1000 Words, Dark Company’s Signmaker and Rage in Heaven, The Ug Brothers’ Cute But Weird, Alien Heat’s Red Rug Demo and Essential and Wud’s Daylight Demo. More will follow shortly.

Also the Wud Records team would like to shout out “HELLO!” to Rowena who emailed us today. Rowena played beautiful sax and flute on Dark Company’s Signmaker album and made us all some glorious pizzas. :)

Wud: archives raided for uploads

Posted by Wudmaster on 17/06/09

During an mp3-based kerfuffle we discovered a collection of songs by Wud that had not been uploaded previously, so we fixed this by adding a new page to Wud. The collection in question is the Cander collection. These songs were recorded just before the beginnings of Laughing Sun and where Laughing Sun’s Cander occupies Side B of the Cander cassette, so this collection of songs by Wud occupies side A of the same cassette.

Piestnia Za, or Песня За as it should be written, is instrumental and features just George and Marc. Fair play to Marc for struggling through this behemoth of a composition on Excaliber, his Kay bass. The two seemed rather chuffed with their efforts judging by the off-mic chat and giggling.

We also scanned and uploaded to the Wud Gallery the cassette cover for the Daylight Demo.

Coincidentally, Ian Dent, the engineer for the Daylight Demo, contacted Wud Records earlier today right out of the blue during the re-recording of Pete’s vocals for Pick It Up which will be on Dark Company’s forthcoming Bad Habits album. It was extraordinary and delightful to speak with the man again after all these years. Ian remembers the occasion of Wud’s visit to his studio well and we spent a little time catching up on the past two decades. It was fantastic!

Our traffic figures would tend to indicate that there may be others out there who have played their part in one or another of our bands or lives at some point in the past. It would be great if you were to make yourselves known, perhaps through the forums or by email if you are too shy to telephone. You know you want to…

Wud Records: website upgrade

Posted by Wudmaster on 14/06/09

Due to the various changes and developments that are taking place behind the scenes at the Wud Records website, it is likely that in the near future the site will be in ‘Maintenance Mode’ for a few days and as such large parts of it will be inaccessible. We apologise for any inconvenience although the results will make it worthwhile. We hope that you will return when the redesign and shop have been applied.

We found some more of Dark Company Pete’s old pictures and uploaded them along with a few new ones to the ‘Pete’s Art’ gallery. Enjoy!

Explicit Music: a new look

Posted by Wudmaster on 09/06/09

Everything that was previously published at the old Explicit Music website has now been moved to the new Explicit Music website. There is still much to publish and the design still needs a little work, although I think you will agree that it looks much better now and it is far easier to find the information you want. Thanks to the team for their hard work.

Additionally we have published several more albums of Dark Company’s lyrics over at the Explicit Music website.

Dark Company: new photos uploaded

Posted by Wudmaster on 04/06/09

The photos from May 31st have now been uploaded to the Dark Company gallery. Some of them are great! Phil the Photographer would like to have another go and take some more in a different location on a more overcast day. No doubt we shall be uploading those as well.

We have removed all of the Bad Habits songs in order to reload the full beta mix of the whole album. Due to security and technical reasons we are having various issues with uploads of mp3s. A certain technician from a particular software company is refusing to answer our queries so we may have to release a squadron of pterydactyls with instructions to defecate on all his doorknobs. Hopefully we shall be able to upload the full beta album fairly soon. All the songs still need a little work and we hope the album will be finished by the end of August.

Pete has now finished all the voices and harmonicas for the Mind Dance collection, and Sven has now bashed things in his own unique way for almost half of those songs as well. We anticipate that it will not be horribly long before the whole collection is finalised. When we are able to reupload mp3s we shall provide a few alpha tracks for your enjoyment.
