September 2012 saw a new record set for web traffic figures at Wud Records. For the first time ever we had over 2000 visitors in one month, which smashed our previous record by about 16%.

The Wud Records team would like to say a big THANK YOU! to all 2062 unique visitors that arrived at the Wud Records website during September, especially those who bought music from our shop at Bandcamp. Here’s hoping that October will be even better!

Work has begun on upgrading the oldest unfinished Dark Company album, Alien Heat, to beta status. This means that the songs are approaching their final tweaks and master mix, when we stop twiddling with the desks and instruments and sequencers and let the music fly free.

The first four songs (Abnormal, Ship to Shore, Where Are You and Dancin’ in the Dark) have all been upgraded to beta mixes and have been uploaded to Dark Company‘s Alien Heat page. The remaining 12 songs are still at alpha status and will be upgraded in the coming days and weeks. We will bring you news of further such upgrades and uploads in our ‘News’ service.

We have uploaded new upgraded mixes of Medicine Man and Fixed and Free from the Old Hands album by Dark Company. In the coming weeks we plan to upload further upgraded alpha mixes of songs from the Old Hands album, as much of what is there at present is mostly of only demo quality.

Medicine Man and Fixed and Free are old lyrics with fairly new music. One of the guitars used for the recordings was the ESP baritone, which was tuned to standard Bb tuning with a drop Ab for the low string. Both are radio-edit short, heavy in style and somewhat tongue-in-cheek lyrically.

As these are only alpha mixes they both require a fair amount of work to be brought up to full Dark Company release standard. Fixed and Free at present has a somewhat comical ending that we have left in for your enjoyment, where Sven and Pete are clowning around in the studio.

New mixes of Blue Blue Sky and Lunch Money from the Mind Dance album by Dark Company have been uploaded. Blue Blue Sky is track #11 and Lunch Money is track #12 of Mind Dance. There are only two more tracks to add to the alpha mixes of Mind Dance now, those being track #13 (Broken Tubes) and #14 (Listen). These are at present on the slab and being bashed into shape.

Dark Company have not been very active in recent times as everyone is so busy with other commitments in life right now. We hope to be able to return to the important business of making music again soon.

These two latest mixes are produced to full alpha stage. Both Blue Blue Sky and Lunch Money will require further performance and production work before they are completed, as indeed will the rest of the mixes from the Mind Dance album.

Lunch Money is named thusly because “…there is no such thing as a free lunch.”
