Wud Records: we fixed it!

Posted by Wudmaster on 26/10/13

So that’s the… house?
No, the mouse.
A mouse? Eughh.
It’s not a real mouse, it’s just a little plastic thing.
And that’s the scream?
No, it’s the screen.
Ah ok. And the keyboard?
Yes.
Why is it bored?
*sigh*

Greetings one and all! We are back it seems. Sometime in mid-August there was a power failure which ruined the Wud Records office computer. Since then we tried various combinations and permutations of software and hardware in here, and spent a lot more time working on musical things in the studios, and finally – we seem to have a running system, of sorts, even if we have to plug different hard drives into the motherboard when using different software. Hooray (at least sort of)!

Here is a teaser of what is to come soon. Since our last news post, we have done a great deal of work to several forthcoming Dark Company albums, had a three-day studio session with Pok, and worked on some Flicker material, both from their HappySad album and subsequent things. Many, many hours of video have been created and hopefully will soon be edited and published to our YouTube channel. We also peered into the archives for some old gems and have enjoyed some radio play. Not too shabby, all in all.

We shall bring you up to date with all of the latest news in the next few days and upload some sparkly new upgrades to many songs, assuming no more office space computer death occurs.

Here’s wishing you all a very happy Saturday! :-)

Pok: Anthology fiddlings

Posted by Wudmaster on 16/08/13

Pok was back in the studio on Monday for a lengthy outburst of fiddlings with the various unfinished tracks on his forthcoming Anthology album. We mostly worked on the songs Cunning and Tricks and Whatever You Are, Whatever You Do, with both of them coming together rather well. We are hopeful that the finished versions of these will both be released sometime around the next time Pok is here.  We will keep you informed of all further developments using the usual news channels.

If you would like to hear the three finished tracks by Pok on his Anthology album, you can do so by clicking here.

The Bastard Sons of Dennis: live at Sidmouth Folk Festival

Posted by Wudmaster on 09/08/13

We are delighted to announce, at rather short notice, that The Bastard Sons of Dennis will be performing live and unplugged on the promenade at Sidmouth Folk Festival – TODAY! We believe they may be filmed during this performance, so if you would like your face to appear in their video, hurry down to the sea front at Sidmouth right now.

We also believe that Pok will be performing live there too, although we are unable to confirm this at the present time.

Dark Company: Gallery 8 of Pete’s artwork

Posted by Wudmaster on 23/07/13

Gallery 8 of Dark Company Pete’s artwork is now open! There are at present only eight images there, but it’s a start. More will be uploaded soon.

In other Dark Company news, the song Jigsaw from the forthcoming Alien Heat album is on the slab and being prodded in the studio for its upgrade to beta status. We shall let you know when it is done and uploaded.

Pok: The Lecher

Posted by Wudmaster on 22/07/13

We have uploaded a remixed and remastered version of The Lecher by Pok to his Anthology album, both at Bandcamp and here at Wud Records. Everyone who bought a copy has been sent their upgraded mp3, so if you are one, please check your inbox or send us details of your new email address so that we can send it again.

The Lecher is a blues/rock jam with fabulous playing from all concerned. It was written when Pok and George were at school together in Ottery St Mary and is a jestful tongue-in-cheek prod at a couple of the teachers and staff from that school back in the early 1980s.

The Chillun: an autobiography by Andrew “Angus” Russe

Posted by Wudmaster on 21/07/13

The Chillun: an autobiography by Andrew “Angus” Russe has been published. The former Chillun frontman and band leader found The Chillun’s page at Wud Records and surprised us all with a wonderful account detailing the history of The Chillun. He also hinted that there might be some more recorded material hiding away in his house somewhere, and that he may dig it out and send it to us at some time, so we look forward to that with great anticipation!
