Rough Terrain: links upgraded

Posted by Wudmaster on 31/07/11

All of the links and playlists for the Rough Terrain pages here at Wud Records have now been upgraded. This means that on the non album-specific pages the songs will not repeat themselves, and all of the clickable icons for the lyrics, information and download links have been hooked up correctly.

We also updated all the SEO information for Rough Terrain, so now it feels as if we are all walking around with halos and wings. Rough Terrain never had any form of harp accompaniment, unfortunately, other than the blues harp blown so stylishly by Mad Blind Screaming Blue Stu in Coping with the Runs in Mexico Blues.

Dark Company: Rage in Heaven upgrade

Posted by Wudmaster on 29/07/11

Rage in Heaven has had a sonic upgrade! The remastered Rage in Heaven album by Dark Company is now available to be heard at various places. You can listen at Dark Company’s Rage in Heaven page and the default music player which appears at many pages at our site and is set to ‘random play’ has all the songs as well. Last Train to Heaven, the last track on the Rage in Heaven album, is also included in the current Dark Company playlist to accompany their non album-specific pages.

We are not entirely happy with this latest upgrade, so this is probably not the end of this story. When we have come to some decision as to what should be done next with these we shall let you know.

Dark Company: Pete’s latest artwork

Posted by Wudmaster on 28/07/11

We have uploaded Pete’s latest artistic creations to his special gallery among the Dark Company pages. If you would like to look at the most recently added abstracts, they can be found towards the bottom of the page which you can visit by clicking here.

We are hoping to be able to install some new gallery software soon because the previous app died.

Recluse: Ride That Fantasy

Posted by Wudmaster on 27/07/11

We have added the album Ride That Fantasy by the young virtuoso Devon rock trio of yore Recluse to our archives. The album was probably made in 2001, although we have no exact details, and demonstrates some of the extraordinarily cunning songwriting techniques these boys had up there sleeves.

We suspect that Alex Painter was the main man behind this album as we recognise his vocal and guitar style. We believe he may have played a baritone guitar for much of this fine album.

Dark Company: Rage in Heaven remastering

Posted by Wudmaster on 26/07/11

We have remastered Dark Company’s Rage in Heaven album from 1993 and are not especially overjoyed at the results as there were a few anomalies in the original mixes we had to work with.

As such we have uploaded the files to our shop at bandcamp.com and left the album and its individual tracks at the discounted price until we have either remastered the album again or come up with a new plan entirely.

Rage in Heaven is a glorious album and we highly recommend it to everyone as it shows off Dark Company’s virtuosity when they were pioneers of the trance-rock sound. The album features the songs Medicines, The Forger and Last Train to Heaven, with Medicines becoming a minor hit record in Europe in the late part of 1993. Dark Company: Drift of Stars

Posted by Wudmaster on 25/07/11

We’ve uploaded some rough demos of some songs that will eventually come to form the Drift of Stars album by Dark Company. Some of these demos are extremely (!) sketchy and we hope to be able to update these songs in the reasonably near future. We intend to add a couple more songs to this collection as well. If you would like to listen to these songs, you can do so by clicking here.

One of the Drift of Stars songs, Joe Right, comes in two separate versions, a rock version and a jazz version. The rock version is the Drift of Stars version, and the jazz version has been added to the Can of Worms album. To listen to the Can of Worms album please click here.

We are very pleased to say that there is very little left to make rough demos of from the vast archive of Dark Company’s back catalogue. A fairly large number of other songs exist but Wud Records and/or Dark Company themselves have taken the executive decision to reject them.
