Dark Company: two songs added to Alien Heat

Posted by Wudmaster on 05/09/11

Two new alpha mixes of songs from Dark Company’s Alien Heat album have been added to the appropriate mp3 player. The songs added are The Winds of Heaven and Asylum Child.

Both still need a lot of work before they are completed, although we thought you might like to hear how they are progressing. If you would like to listen to the Alien Heat album, you can do so by clicking here.

Wud Records: traffic up and up!

Posted by Wudmaster on 01/09/11

We are very pleased to announce that our traffic continues to grow and grow and we would like to thank everyone who visits the Wud Records website, especially those of you that support us by buying downloads from our shop! We have been publishing our top ten songs by downloads and plays at Bandcamp in the notes section of our Facebook page, which you can access by clicking here.

Traffic figures in July 2011 were our previous best and the new figures for August 2011 smashed those by a whopping 15%. We hope that you will spread the word that Wud Records will soon dominate the entire universe so that our traffic will continue to grow.

At this rate of proliferation, the only traffic on the web will be coming to Wud Records. Rather like the rate of proliferation of Elvis impersonators globally means that soon the entire planet will be populated only by Elvis impersonators. We wish you all a happy September. :)

Explicit Music: links upgraded

Posted by Wudmaster on 20/08/11

All of the ‘Listen Here’ links at Explicit Music have been upgraded so that they now redirect the internet surfer to the song at bandcamp.com where applicable, rather than back to the relevant band’s album page here at Wud Records.

Not all of the Explicit Music pages have a ‘Listen Here’ link, although there are many that do have them. We hope eventually that all such links will be redirected to songs for sale at our bandcamp.com shop, rather than band album pages here.

The Chillun: eight songs added to archives

Posted by Wudmaster on 13/08/11

We have added eight songs by legendary Exeter bluesmen The Chillun to our archive section. We are sure that many people will remember the mighty splendour of a Chillun performance from their popular residency at the Port Royal in Exeter, among other places. Now you can enjoy eight of their recorded songs from back in the early 1980s simply by clicking here.

If there are any more recordings of The Chillun or information about the band out there in the universe at large, we would love to hear from you so we might host more of their material here. If you can email info@wudrecords.co.uk and put ‘Chillun’ in the subject bar, one of our Wud Records team will reply.

Dark Company: Alien Heat upgrade

Posted by Wudmaster on 10/08/11

We have given the Alien Heat album by Dark Company a sonic upgrade from how it was before. This includes better quality recordings of the songs and updated versions of the recorded performances. This brings the songs uploaded there to full alpha stage, as before they were very bare and of poor quality and little more than bleeegls.

So far eight of the songs have been given the upgrade treatment and there another eight to work on and upload. We shall let you know when we have done this, although the best way to stay in touch with all the latest news from Dark Company is to follow their Twitter feed, which you can do by clicking here.

The songs we have upgraded are Abnormal, Ship to Shore, Where Are You, Dancin’ in the Dark, Alpha Omega, Jigsaw, Mister Dream and Traveller. You can hear all of these upgraded songs right now by clicking here.

As these are only alpha mixes, they require a fair bit more work to make them finished and radio-friendly. We shall continue with this work in time and post news of results to the News section here at Wud Records.

The songs that still need to be upgraded and added back to the Alien Heat collection are The Winds of Heaven, Asylum Chid, Easy Street, Wonderlust, Crash, Prisoner, Bodyfire and The Joker.

The Bastard Sons of Dennis: more new photos

Posted by Wudmaster on 05/08/11

We have now uploaded the photos from the second part of the evening of 1st August 2011 to the gallery for The Bastard Sons of Dennis. These show Mr Lijkkes and Mr Nejsan in action at The Sorry Head, Exeter, following on from their earlier show at The Oddfellows. The photos were all taken by Kim and we particularly like the way the lights make Mr Nejsan’s guitar look like it might be several different colours. If you would like to see these new pictures you can do so by clicking here.

In other BSoD news, the song Sometimes, which will appear on the Cherry Smoke Empire album, has been prodded a little more and is approaching mixing stage.

Mr Lijkkes has been working on writing a couple of new songs which the duo plan to rehearse and perform soon. We’ve heard them and they are fantastic!

The Bastard Sons of Dennis also have a full feature-length performance coming up at The Oddfellows, New North Road, Exeter, on Thursday 25th August 2011 at 8:30pm, so this is a great opportunity to hear them playing a lot of their songs live all in one hit. Admission is free and you are advised to take a duck and some spare underwear. All will be revealed, apparently. We are hoping that the spare underwear won’t be used for some sort of bizarre onstage cabaret underwear-swapping shenanigans as revealing all may not be the best option…
