The playlist for The Snail Gauntlet Demos by Flicker has now been repaired. Once again you can enjoy listening to these early versions of this forthcoming Flicker album.

Please bear in mind that they are only demos and not of great quality, although they possess a certain quaint charm all of their own. Many instruments are not even present on these demos, they are very raw and rough and empty.

The upgraded alpha mixes of Standing Still and Dreadlocked by Dark Company have been added to their Mind Dance album playlist.

Being only alpha mixes, there is still a lot of work to be done before these Dark Company songs are finished. A lot of the strings will need to be replayed and a lot of production still needs to be done.

Nevertheless, all of the songs on Dark Company‘s Mind Dance album are developing in a pleasing way and we hope you enjoy these most recent updates. There will be more to add to the Mind Dance album in the coming days.

Standing Still features the awesome jazz harmonica of Pete as well as some wonderful drumming by Sven and Maxx’s brutal and melodic bass. It is a beautiful dreamy hypnotic song with a roots feel.

Dreadlocked is a more rocky and trancy song with a hint of eastern rhythm. Dark Company‘s rhythm section of Maxx and Sven again excel in this song. In the third verse Sven breaks free of his chains and lays down a wonderful complex groove whilst keeping all the bones of the simpler rhythm of the earlier verses.

All of the HappySad Demos from Flicker have now been repaired so you can listen to them again by clicking here. In the coming days we will also repair the demos for The Snail Gauntlet by Flicker.

All of these demos are a sneak preview into the forthcoming HappySad album from Flicker, which we have begun to finalise. Please bear in mind that they are only demos and the quality is therefore not the same as a fully finished and mastered production.

Meteor and Gottedamerung are the two latest songs to be added to the Mind Dance collection from Dark Company.

Meteor is a simple acoustic song with Pete playing harmonica and is about the results of a tarot reading. It has an outdoor summer feel and a comical ending with some very strange noises in the background. Further percussion and atmospherics will be added before this song is finished.

Gottedamerung sounds like two completely different songs that have been joined together in the middle. It begins with a drum-n-bass feel and heavy guitars before mellowing to a more melodic groove.

As with the other songs we have added to Mind Dance recently, these versions are still only at alpha stage and require a great deal of work until they are finished. We shall be adding further tracks to the Mind Dance album for you in the coming days so that you can hear how this album is developing.

Astronomy is a new release from The Bastard Sons of Dennis. It has been added to their Cosy Lube Turtle album and is a cover of a Blue Oyster Cult song, from their 1974 Secret Treaties album. It was also famously covered by Metallica.

Astronomy is the eighth of eleven songs that will eventually make up the Cosy Lube Turtle album. The remaining three tracks are in varying stages of finalisation.

Victory Garden and Venturi, the third and fourth upgraded alpha mixes of the forthcoming Mind Dance album from Dark Company, have been uploaded to the Mind Dance page playlist.

Track #3, Victory Garden, is a haunting and amusing look at American politics during the Clinton era and is characterised by its simple melodic guitar lines and beautiful evocative drumming by Sven. It also contains the immortal line “I lost my heart – to an organ bank”.

Track #4, Venturi, is a magical and mystical song of great power with multiple layers of vocal harmonies and wonderful melodic driving bass from Maxx. We have not yet added the wailing guitar feedback or the acoustic instruments.
