Dark Company: Victory Garden and Venturi

Posted by Wudmaster on 29/04/12

Victory Garden and Venturi, the third and fourth upgraded alpha mixes of the forthcoming Mind Dance album from Dark Company, have been uploaded to the Mind Dance page playlist.

Track #3, Victory Garden, is a haunting and amusing look at American politics during the Clinton era and is characterised by its simple melodic guitar lines and beautiful evocative drumming by Sven. It also contains the immortal line “I lost my heart – to an organ bank”.

Track #4, Venturi, is a magical and mystical song of great power with multiple layers of vocal harmonies and wonderful melodic driving bass from Maxx. We have not yet added the wailing guitar feedback or the acoustic instruments.

In the coming days more upgraded alpha tracks will be added to the Mind Dance collection from Dark Company. If you would like to listen to these songs now you can do so by clicking here.

Dark Company: Beasts and Angels and Slave of Days

It’s time. It’s exciting!

Over the coming days and weeks we shall be uploading some new material for you all to enjoy, and today we are beginning the uploads of the sonic upgrades for Dark Company‘s Mind Dance album.

The first two tracks of Mind Dance have been uploaded and although still only at alpha stage, i.e. in need of a lot of work in terms of recording and production and mastering, you can at least hear how these songs are developing.

Originally the demos of these songs had the wonderful singing of Sammi on them which contrasted so beautifully with Pete’s vocal style. You can hear these demos of Mind Dance by clicking here, which takes you to the Dark Company Demos page.

The first track on Mind Dance is Beasts and Angels, which opens the album, and it is not a particularly serious song. It starts somewhat strange and then funky and then turns heavier and eventually mutates into utter filth before mellowing to a more soulful feel at the end.

The second track on the Mind Dance album is Slave of Days, which again is more tongue-in-cheek than it seems at first and has a loud punky grungy feel.

Wud Records: builders

It’s been quiet lately at Wud Records due to having the builders in. We have redesigned our studio spaces for better acoustics, more space and improved feng shui. More music will be forthcoming soon.

Dark Company: return to the studio

Posted by Wudmaster on 09/03/12

After a quiet winter, Dark Company have made a welcome return to the studio to do more work on their enormous back catalogue. There has been progress on several fronts, including Bad Habits, Old Hands, Can of Worms and Mind Dance.

Earlier today, Pete was back in the studio for the first time in four months or so. Together we analysed the status of the recordings Dark Company are working on with a view to finishing recording the vocal parts for the Old Hands album and tweaking the things that need to be tweaked here and there.

Dark Company
have recently worked more on their Bad Habits album. Track #5, Nightshifters, is completely finished and mastered with a number of bonus mixes. It’s sounding absolutely fantastic and we look forward to releasing it to you!

Sven also made a return to the studio recently to re-record all of the drums for Days Like These, track #6 of the Bad Habits album. For the new drum parts, he bashed the drums somewhat harder than he had previously done to make a bigger sound, and being a rather large and powerful gentleman, his drums were well and truly bashed. The results sound great! (We are glad we are not Sven’s drums.) There are a few guitar oddities in Days Like These that we wish to get to the bottom of before it is mixed and mastered.

We have started to make better alpha mixes of the Can of Worms and Mind Dance albums. Both sets of mixes will start to be uploaded to their playlists here at Wud Records sometime soon.

Pete has also been busy creating new artwork and we have found some more of his older works as well. This means that we shall be sorting out all of his art pages. We will let you know when we fix them in our ‘News’ service, along with all further news of Dark Company.

Wud Records: shop shuffled

Posted by Wudmaster on 26/02/12

We have shuffled the order of the albums for sale at our shop at Bandcamp, to reflect the same page order of our artists as at Wud Records.

Older bands, which are no longer active, are arranged according to the time in which they existed.

Bands that are still active are arranged in order of overall historical sales volume, with Flicker being first as our biggest-selling artist. Active artists Flicker, Dark Company, The Bastard Sons of Dennis and Pok have their material arranged in order of newness.

These albums at Bandcamp are under construction:
Flicker: HappySad
The Bastard Sons of Dennis: Cosy Lube Turtle
The Bastard Sons of Dennis: Cherry Smoke Empire
Pok: Anthology

These albums at Bandcamp are awaiting remastering:
The Ug Brothers: Cute But Weird
Alien Heat: Red Rug Demo
Alien Heat: Essential

There are still two tracks on Flicker’s At Least 1000 Words album that need to be remastered.

There is a lot of secret hidden material at Bandcamp, which we plan to release soon when more artwork is developed. We shall let you know all about this in our ‘News’ service when it happens.

Flicker: It Starts Right Here

Posted by Wudmaster on 19/02/12

It Starts Right Here is the first track on a new Flicker album called HappySad and this track is now released here at Wud Records and at our shop at Bandcamp.

HappySad is under construction and new tracks will be added when they are finished. Anybody who downloads a track or the album for 89% or more of the eventual sales price will be sent free mp3 updates by email. This is like an investment in the album and means the investor will have rare ‘unfinished’ tracks when HappySad is finalised.

We will let Flicker fans know about updates to this album through our ‘News’ service and through social media such as Twitter and Facebook.
