Stephen Yates: electric guitar workshops

Posted by Wudmaster on 19/01/12

Virtuoso guitarist, composer, session musician and Classical Guitarist of the Year award-winner Stephen Yates will be holding some electric guitar workshops in Exeter. Any guitarist from intermediate to super-advanced will want to take part in his masterclasses as he is a unique talent with a vast knowledge base to share and can improve the technique of even the most proficient musicians. Tickets for these workshops are likely to go fast so you should make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.

Stephen Yates also plans to perform live concerts at a number of village halls throughout the south-west of England as he feels they are under-used venues. He plans to offer free wine during the intervals of these perfomances.

We are hoping to add some of the electric guitar music of Stephen Yates to the Archive section here at Wud Records in the near future. His pieces are unique, complex, challenging and wonderful all at once, and we feel sure that many of our visitors will enjoy his music very much.

At this moment we have very few details of these upcoming events. We shall be sure to keep you updated as these details become apparent.

If you would like to visit the website of Stephen Yates, clicking on this paragraph will take you to the page where you can see him perform three of his steel-string compositions – Mr Hyde’s Hop, Mosaic and Summers Spent, and from there you can explore the rest of his site if you wish.

Dark Company: Crash and Prisoner

Posted by Wudmaster on 19/12/11

The Dark Company album Alien Heat has had two more songs added to it. Crash and Prisoner have both been produced to alpha stage and fitted into the mp3 player where they belong.

The Alien Heat album by Dark Company is a collection of the songs played or at least partly composed by the band Alien Heat, from which Dark Company were formed. It still needs a lot of work to finish these songs, especially where it comes to mixing Prisoner as that one has over 90 tracks of audio! The entire Alien Heat album is now approaching full alpha status, with just two more songs – Wonderlust and The Joker – remaining to be added.

Crash is the digitally sequenced version of the song that appeared on Dark Company’s Signmaker album and takes a tongue-in-cheek prod at the TV genre of soap opera in general.

Prisoner is a collection of dark, philosophical wanderings and meanderings through the film set scenery of the beautiful and allegorical 1982 film by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, Dark Crystal.

If you would like to hear Crash, Prisoner, or indeed the rest of the Alien Heat album in its current state, you can do so by clicking here.

Wud Records: 100 songs

Posted by Wudmaster on 16/12/11

Following yesterday’s upload of a new song by The Bastard Sons of Dennis, we now have exactly 100 songs for sale at our shop at Bandcamp.

All of our songs have been available at ‘name-your-own-price’, which includes free. Since we changed our pricing structure thusly, sales have increased. We were going to review the situation after 111 downloads, and as that happened within a few days we shall keep to this current policy for now and review it in due course.

Customers who download songs or albums for 89% or more of the price we set for each will receive upgraded files for free by email when they become available. We hope to be able to add a lot more of our bands’ songs to the Wud Records catalogue at Bandcamp in the coming weeks.

We would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everybody who has supported our work by paying for downloads. :-)
